Daniel Kurtz, Chair of Pryor Cashman's Nonprofit + Tax-Exempt Organizations Group, recently sat down with The New York Times Magazine to discuss the ongoing public struggles of Wayne LaPierre, the embattled leader of the National Rifle Association ("N.R.A.").

LaPierre's most recent controversy, where he has been accused of misusing N.R.A. funds for his personal use, is the newest chapter surrounding his confusing relationship with the non-profit association, who nonetheless continues to back him in public.

In the article, Kurtz, the former Assistant Attorney General-in-Charge of the Charities Bureau for the Office of the New York State Attorney General, explained that "the N.R.A. would have to establish that such transactions were 'fair, reasonable and in the corporation's best interest...(t)hey can assert that, but it's preposterous.'"
