On October 6, members of the House of Representatives introduced the USA Liberty Act to reauthorize a key program of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, which allows the National Security Agency to collect information on overseas targets. The new legislation includes added privacy protections, such as preventing the U.S. government from using information collected under this mechanism to criminally prosecute U.S. citizens without a warrant.
