BLM Senior Partner Matthew Harrington shared his predictions for 2022 with Insurance Post.

As well as predicting that a mid-term general election will be the biggest event of 2022, Matthew said: “Looking at motor business, we're expecting to see the first use of automated driving technology on UK roads in 2022. The rules for insurance and for sharing accident data need to be really clear. Customer preference for electric vehicles will continue to rise and could pose new challenges for insurer repair networks. The government will also have to make decisions about the future legal framework for e-scooters, which will need to include a properly-informed decision about possible insurance requirements.”

Commenting on the challenges facing the sector, Matthew believes “continuing to develop seamless digital propositions will remain key.”
