SEATTLE (September 6, 2022) — Seyfarth announced today the arrival of partner Daniel A. Swedlow to its Labor & Employment department and Labor Management Relations practice group in Seattle. Swedlow previously served as a Labor & Employment partner at Summit Law Group in Seattle.

Swedlow works with employers on a wide range of labor strategies, including in collective bargaining, strategic labor relations and planning, labor arbitration, unfair labor practice litigation and related counseling, and labor dispute management. He represents employers in connection with representation petitions and union organizing, and general labor and employment counseling, litigation strategy, and management. He also provides labor relations guidance to businesses in industries not traditionally associated with labor campaigns, such as technology, online retail, and cannabis.

"Dan's savvy, seasoned approach to labor management relations issues makes him a great addition to the firm's Seattle office. His deep experience in labor and employment law will offer our broader team terrific support in both the active Pacific Northwest market as well as across our entire platform," said Laura Maechtlen, chair of Seyfarth's Labor & Employment department.

In addition to his collective bargaining work, Swedlow advises clients on the full range of labor law matters and disputes—including unfair labor practice and representational proceedings heard before the National Labor Relations Board.

To help his clients navigate the complexities of labor relationships, Swedlow draws on his experience as outside labor counsel, prior in-house work for one of the world's largest Teamsters locals, and service as in-house counsel for a major healthcare employer. He earned his JD from the University of Washington School of Law and received a BA in History from University of California Santa Cruz.

"Dan will add greater depth to an already significant cadre of Seyfarth labor and employment talent, both here in the Pacific Northwest and nationally," said Denice Tokunaga and Tom Wybenga, Seattle co-managing partners, in a joint statement. "He's an excellent addition to our firm, and we're looking forward to the future with Dan on the team."

Seyfarth's Seattle office has added more than 30 attorneys since its opening in 2020, representing a cross-section of the firm's nationally ranked departments, including Labor & Employment, Construction, Real Estate, Employee Benefits, Corporate, and Litigation.
