We are pleased to announce that Jaime Welsh is one of only 40 up-and-coming bankruptcy practitioners selected to participate in the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges' (NCBJ's) 2022 Next Generation ("NextGen") program. The 2022 NextGen program will take place during NCBJ's Annual Meeting, which will be held October 19, 2022 through October 22, 2022 at the Marriott World Center in Orlando, Florida.

All NextGen participants meet stringent requirements, including demonstrating legal excellence in the practice of bankruptcy law and devoting half of their day-to-day practice to bankruptcy cases. Each participant is required to have ten or fewer years in practice and a commitment to the highest standards of civility, ethics, and professionalism. Participants also demonstrate a commitment to the educational development of bankruptcy professionals and to professional activities that benefit the public, the bankruptcy bar, and the court system.

Jaime is part of Shipman's Business Litigation Practice Group where she focuses on the representation of clients in complex commercial litigation, bankruptcy cases, and insolvency proceedings. A graduate of the University of Connecticut School of Law, Jaime received her J.D. with Honors in 2015. She simultaneously received a Graduate Certificate in Human Rights. She joined Shipman as an associate later that same year.

In addition to her busy practice, Jaime maintains a very active pro bono practice through firm partnerships with Lawyers for Children America, the ACLU, the Center for Children's Advocacy, and GLBTQ Legal Advocates & Defenders (GLAD).

"I am honored to participate in NCBJ's NextGen program along with some of my peers from across the United States," said Jaime. "I look forward to learning from leading practitioners and bankruptcy judges at the NextGen program and NCBJ's Annual Meeting in October."
