Associate Eri Kozakou from our Shipping & Maritime Law Legal Team was in Athens attending the 10th International Conference of Maritime Law organised by Piraeus Bar Association. This year's conference subject was: "Protecting maritime operators in a changing regulatory and technological environment".
The conference merged the academic and the practical perspectives of maritime law, taking into consideration the ever-changing environment and the volatility of the market due to the pandemic and recent sanctions. The three-day seminar touched on many areas of shipping and related issues, including the unreadiness of the shipping industry to confront the pandemic, the consequences imposed by the current sanctions also affecting the industry, challenges related to financing, as well as all-important environmental considerations, as part of the industry's ESG.
