Every year, patentees file more patent applications in a wider range of countries. Yet, prosecuting patents in multiple different countries can be challenging. While treaties and other agreements (like the Paris Convention and the PCT) may lay a foundation for many countries' patent systems, local patent law varies widely on the issue of patent eligibility.
In this webinar, we will address approaches to subject matter eligibility in Europe, India, and the United States. These three jurisdictions have markedly different standards for assessing patent subject matter eligibility, and thus illustrate the range of issues practitioners may encounter in pursuing international patent protection. The speakers will discuss best practices for pursuing patent eligible claims in their respective jurisdictions.
Topics will include:
- Eligibility of inventions relating to or utilizing computer technology
- Eligibility of inventions relating to pharmaceuticals or methods of using pharmaceuticals
- Recent developments or decisions relating to patent eligibility
