Steven N. Geise, a partner in Jones Day's Business & Tort Litigation Practice who serves as Partner-in-Charge and head of litigation for the Firm's San Diego Office, has been inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, one of the premier legal associations in North America.
Mr. Geise represents manufacturers of medical devices, pharmaceuticals, opioids, and other consumer goods in all phases of individual and class action litigation and has won defense verdicts in federal and state courts across the country.
"I have worked alongside Steve on some of our clients' most important cases, and have great admiration for his exceptional skills as a trial lawyer," said Stephanie Parker, co-leader of the Firm's Business & Tort Litigation Practice. "Steve's induction as a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers is a well-deserved honor, and we all congratulate him."
Mr. Geise is currently advising clients on litigation risks stemming from business disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Because of his experience in jury trials, he frequently collaborates with trial teams in product liability, intellectual property, and general litigation cases on trial themes, presentation, and strategy.
"We are so proud of Steve, and so happy to see him receive this wonderful recognition as one of the premier litigators in the country, something we have known him to be for a long time," said Karen Hewitt, Partner-in-Charge of Jones Day's California Region. "His induction into the College is reflection of his consistently great work for our clients and his seamless collaboration with our lawyers in California and around the world."
Mr. Geise has tried 23 cases in state and federal courts across the nation. In 2017, he led a team that secured a defense verdict in a Bay Area trial for R.J. Reynolds that earned the Daily Journal's "Top Defense Verdict Award." In February 2021, Mr. Geise led the team that obtained a complete defense verdict in a personal injury lawsuit on behalf of R.J. Reynolds after a two-week trial in Portland, Oregon.
He is a Master in the Welsh Inn of Court and a former Lawyer Representative to the Southern District of California (2015-2019).
