Some exciting news as we kick off Pro Bono Week in the UK: LawWorks has announced that MoFo is among the law firms named to its shortlist. The firm has been shortlisted for "Best Pro Bono Contribution" in the category for medium-sized firms in the UK and, together with Allen & Overy, Clifford Chance, and Norton Rose Fulbright, has also been shortlisted for "Best International Pro Bono Award."

The "Best Pro Bono Contribution" nomination recognizes the London office's work with Z2K (Zacchaeus Trust 2000), a nonprofit dedicated to helping clients navigate the broken social security and welfare benefits system in the UK and seek the disability benefits they need and deserve.

MoFo's work with Z2K, which began in February of 2018, has had a tremendous impact. The team has taken approximately 30 cases to Tribunal hearings, with an over 90 percent success rate for appeals. To date, the MoFo team has helped secure more than £500,000 in additional benefits for our clients.

The "Best International Pro Bono" nomination recognizes the provision of pro bono capacity building training in the area of Business and Human Rights to lawyers in East Africa. Training has been delivered to over 500 individuals in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Rwanda, targeting lawyers in private practice, in-house counsel, state attorneys, as well as policy makers in government and private corporations.

The winners of LawWorks' Pro Bono Awards will be announced during the organization's annual reception on December 3, 2019 at the Law Society, Chancery Lane, London.

LawWorks is a UK-based charity dedicated to serving people in need of legal advice with the skills and expertise of lawyers through local, independent pro bono clinics, free of cost.
