ChIPs, a nonprofit organization focused on advancing and connecting women in technology, law, and policy, has named Morrison & Foerster as one of the top 10 law firms for gender diversity and inclusion practices in firm leadership and Intellectual Property practice groups. ChIPs has given this recognition to firms with the highest index scores on its Inclusion Blueprint survey, a joint initiative with Diversity Lab. This year's Inclusion Blueprint was sent to over 200 law firms, including the Am Law 200. Forty-eight firms completed the survey.
The Inclusion Blueprint differs from traditional diversity surveys in that it goes beyond just measuring headcount. In addition to assessing the overall representation of diversity in leadership, the Inclusion Blueprint captures a firm's efforts in monitoring their lawyers' leave, sponsorship, and other critical development and advancement opportunities. Measuring this data ensures that diverse lawyers have equal access to all opportunities, and interrupts unconscious biases that may occur within a firm.
