Managing and protecting intellectual property (IP) and responding to IP infringements can be a challenge in a corporate or government setting.

It is often unclear where responsibility for IP rests and it regularly falls back to corporate counsel to guide the organisation's approach to protecting IP and handling the organisation's response to infringement of its own or others' IP.

With Bega's recent and highly publicised win against Kraft for the branding of its peanut butter jars, it is timely to consider both the registered and unregistered IP of your organisation and what strategies you have in place to protect it.

In this informative and practical session designed for in-house lawyers, corporate partner Charles Sweeney and associate Adelaide Hayes will lead a discussion on:

  • the fundamentals of IP and how IP rights are created
  • dealing with IP rights in agreements
  • the importance of IP due diligence
  • lessons on IP infringement from both sides of the table.

We look forward to seeing you there.
