The World Captive Forum will be held in Miami, Florida on 31 January - 1 February

Appleby Bermuda will have three representatives at the upcoming World Captive Forum in Miami. Managing Partner Tim Faries and Eduardo Fox, Latin America Consultant, will be speaking on Latin American Captives. Senior Associate Matthew Carr will also be attending the conference and doing business development with the team. The Forum is one of the longest running international captive insurance conferences in the world with over 50 highly acclaimed industry experts discussing new and emerging risks facing companies and organisations worldwide, demonstrating how captives can offer solutions that may not be available in the traditional insurance marketplace.

Tim and Eduardo's panel entitled 'Latin American Captives' will explore the role of captives as points of differentiation, offering change and solutions to a broad range of organisations facing changing economic conditions.

Tim is Bermuda Managing Partner, head of the corporate practice in Bermuda and global sector leader of Insurance & Reinsurance. Tim leads a team of lawyers who specialise in all manner of non-contentious corporate insurance work, including life and general insurance and reinsurance, mutual insurance and structured risk financing. He has extensive experience of public and private insurance company capital raising and M&A activity, the establishment and licencing of alternative risk financing vehicles such as cat bonds, ILWs and other insurance-linked securities and captive insurance companies in established and emerging markets. Tim is also the global leader of the firm's Latin America team.

Eduardo is a Latin America consultant in Appleby's Bermuda Corporate and Private Client & Trusts departments and a member of the firm's global Latin America team. He is an economist and CPA. Eduardo also serves as Official Advisor for Latin American Affairs to both the Government of Bermuda and the Bermuda Insurance Management Association.

Matthew is a member of Appleby's corporate practice group in Bermuda. Matthew advises clients on a wide range of corporate matters with a focus on insurance and reinsurance regulatory and transactional work, including licensing of re/insurance companies, alternative risk financing vehicles (such as cat bonds and insurance-linked securities), segregated account structures, M&A and general corporate governance matters. Matthew sits on the BDA's (Bermuda Business Development Agency) Captive Committee and recently spoke on a captive panel at BDA's Executive Miami Forum in October 2018. He also published an article on Bermuda regulation in Captive International this year.
