Ogier continues its commitment to attracting and developing local talent with the promotion of seven team members from Cayman in 2018.

The promotions included corporate and funds specialist, counsel Jody Powery-Gilbert, who has been with Ogier for ten years. Jody provides legal advice in general corporate matters, including the deregistration, voluntary liquidation and strike off of Cayman Islands entities. She worked with the Attorney General's Chambers before joining the firm. At Ogier, her role also includes training and mentoring junior associates and articled clerks in Cayman.

In business services, Karen Gray-Gunderson has been promoted to head of Caribbean and Asia compliance, Leigh Smellie to assistant business development manager and Patrice Stewart to senior HR advisor.

Ben Gillooly has recently been promoted to Associate Director of Fund Services with Ogier Global (Cayman) Limited, following his promotion to counsel in 2017. Also recently promoted in the Ogier Global team were Richard Christian, senior administrator, and Brad Conolly, manager.

James Bergstrom, Ogier's practice partner in Cayman, said: "It is important to us as a firm to continue with our commitment to developing talent in Cayman, both through our articled clerk and scholarship programmes, and by recognising and rewarding talent across all levels and teams.

"Jody's role at Ogier, both as a first-class investment funds lawyer and as a mentor to our trainees and articled clerks, is an important one and on behalf of all of the partners I congratulate her on her promotion.

"It is also pleasing to see the rising talent in Ogier Global and our business services teams, providing opportunities for talented professionals across legal and professional services."
