Conversations began in 2009 among a group of our lawyers about what we could do as a law firm to be part of Reconciliation Australia's RAP program and turn 'good intentions into action' in working to close the gap in life expectancy between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and non Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples in Australia.
From there our Steering Group was formed and our journey began. We have been very fortunate that we have been able to connect with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander friends of the firm, who have provided invaluable guidance and advice during the construction of our plan.
We would like to acknowledge and thank all who have contributed to the development of DLA Piper's Reconciliation Action Plan, in particular:
- Paul Paulson, Claire Toepher and Chris Kirby at Reconciliation Australia.
- Stephanie Harvey at Indigenous Community Volunteers.
- Jason Glanville at National Centre for Indigenous Excellence.
- All members of the DLA Piper RAP Steering Group and working groups.
