Chicago Partners Dan Slayden and Steve Slayden obtained a complete defense verdict for their hospital client in a high-stakes medical malpractice case.

The plaintiff was a 65-year-old woman who underwent a total knee replacement at the client's hospital. After her leg became ischemic, she was transferred to another hospital and eventually required an above-the- knee amputation.

The plaintiff sued the client, and the case proceeded to trial. At the close of evidence, her counsel asked the jury to award $17.2 million. However, after just a few hours of deliberations, the jury returned a defense verdict for the client.
