Senior figures from public and private sectors show their commitment to London market
London, 31st October 2007: The British Virgin Islands International Finance Centre (IFC) this month hosted a roadshow in the city of London as a demonstration of its commitment to what is now widely recognised as the world’s financial capital.
The three day event featured a series of business development meetings with senior figures at London’s leading private banks and law firms. These were followed by evening receptions at The Dorchester, during which over a hundred delegates were briefed about new developments and opportunities in the BVI’s Trust and Corporate business sectors..
Delegates were addressed by the Deputy Premier of the BVI, The Hon. Dancia Penn OBE, Executive Director of the BVI International Finance Centre, Lorna Smith, and the Deputy Managing Director of Regulation at the Financial Services Commission, Ken Baker.
Presentations were also given by several of the BVI’s leading financial services practitioners who were joined by their London counterparts from Harneys UK and Conyers, Dill & Pearman UK. The group provided delegates with an update on the regulatory environment, legislation, and current trends in trust and corporate business.
Sherri Ortiz, Chief Operating Operator of the BVI International Finance Centre, said: "The London market is and has always been tremendously important to the British Virgin Islands, particularly in respect to corporate business, trusts and wealth management. We were pleased that the Roadshow attracted such interest and delegate feedback suggests that the bond between the BVI and the London financial community will continue to strengthen in the months and years ahead."
