Katten's sports and tax team advised the Chicago Bulls on a significant ownership transaction involving the Walton family's acquisition of minority stakes in both the franchise and the United Center.

A Katten team led by Sports and Sports Facilities Partner and Co-Chair Adam Klein and including Transactional Tax Planning Partner Valentina Famparska acted as legal advisor to the Chicago Bulls in connection with Lukas and Samantha Walton's acquisition of a minority interest in both the Chicago Bulls and the United Center.

The transaction involved the purchase of existing stakes from certain limited partners. The Reinsdorf family will continue to hold the controlling interest in the Bulls and remains steadfast in its long-term commitment to the organization. The Reinsdorf and Wirtz families will continue to hold the controlling interest in the United Center and the adjacent mixed-use development known as The 1901 Project.
