WH Partners will be actively participating in the upcoming edition of SBC Summit Malta, taking place between 29 and 30 April. Ramona Cassar, Quirino Mancini, Mark Galea Salomone and Donna Bugelli will be speaking at the summit, which will bring together thousands of industry professionals in one of Europe's leading iGaming hubs.
On 29 April, Ramona Cassar will moderate the panel 'New VAT Laws on Gambling and Betting – A Game Changer', exploring Malta's upcoming VAT framework for online gambling and betting, set to come into force on 1 October 2026. The session will consider the rationale behind the reform, its anticipated impact on the industry, and the steps Malta-based operators should take to prepare.
On the same day, Quirino Mancini will moderate the IMGL Masterclass 'AI Under the Microscope: Regulation, Responsibility and the Next Frontier', examining the growing role of AI in the gaming sector, including developments such as the EU AI Act and Malta's Voluntary AI Governance Framework, alongside key considerations around transparency, bias and responsible innovation. He will also speak on the panel 'Italy Reset: Consolidation, Control and the Next Licensing Cycle', which will explore how Italy's new licensing cycle is driving consolidation and raising barriers to entry, and whether these changes strengthen channelisation or reduce competition.
Mark Galea Salomone will speak during the session 'DAC8 and the Crypto Transparency Revolution: What Malta's CASPs Must Do Before the Clock Runs Out', focusing on the impact of DAC8, the EU directive on crypto-asset reporting, and its implications for Malta's Crypto-Asset Service Providers. The session will address new reporting obligations, the automatic exchange of tax information across Member States, enhanced due diligence requirements, and the operational and strategic challenges ahead.
Donna Bugelli will also be speaking on 29 April on the panel 'Emerging Markets: The Next Billion-Dollar Battleground', which will focus on growth opportunities in developing regions, evolving regulatory landscapes, and key strategic considerations for operators entering new markets.
Also attending from WH Partners are Olga Finkel, Robert Zammit, and Lisa Fino.
SBC Summit Malta will convene senior stakeholders from across the betting and gaming ecosystem to discuss the key trends shaping the future of the industry.
