By acquiring Franz Fischer Spedition GmbH, Schenk Tanktransport has strengthened its position in the DACH region and expanded its presence in the European chemical logistics market. This marks Schenk’s fifth add-on acquisition since Argos Fund’s investment in 2021. Oppenhoff provided Argos and Schenk with comprehensive legal advice on the transaction.

Co-led by Dr Markus Rasner and Moritz Schmitz, Oppenhoff advised Schenk Tanktransport, a portfolio company of Argos Fund, on the acquisition.

Argos Fund is an independent European private equity group with offices in Amsterdam, Brussels, Frankfurt, Luxembourg, Milan and Paris. Argos supports medium-sized companies in their growth. Since its foundation over 35 years ago, Argos has supported over 100 companies. Argos currently manages assets of around EUR 2 billion.

Schenk Tanktransport (Headquartered in Papendrecht, the Netherlands) is one of North-West Europe’s leading tank transport companies, specialising in the transport of liquid food, liquid chemicals, gases and (bio)fuels. It operates sites across Europe, including in Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany and the United Kingdom. Following the acquisition, Schenk will generate annual revenues of around EUR 500 million and employ over 2,900 people. With this acquisition, Schenk further expands its expertise in hazardous goods logistics, especially in the transport of liquid sulphur.

Franz Fischer Spedition GmbH is a family-owned tank transport specialist with over 75 years' experience in transporting liquid and dry bulk chemicals across continental Europe and the UK. It has locations in Germany and Switzerland, employs over 220 people and operates a fleet of more than 100 tractor units, 160 trailers and 45 containers. The company is specialised in the transport of hazardous materials, particularly liquid chemicals for industry and trade, and has extensive expertise in the transport of liquid sulphur.

This acquisition will strengthen Schenk’s market position in chemical tank transport in the DACH region and expand its range of chemical logistics services.
