Caroline Farrell, counsel in the firm's Healthcare Department, recently co-wrote a blog post for The Commonwealth Fund, alongside Allyson Crays and MaryBeth Musumeci of George Washington University's Milken Institute School of Public Health, on recent changes in federal vaccine guidelines.
The article outlines the uncertainty families and providers face as a result of revisions to federal immunization recommendations, as well as the heightened risk faced by children who rely on the federal Medicaid and Vaccines for Children programs. It notes that the new guidelines, under which certain vaccines should be given only based on "shared clinical decision-making," could disrupt access to childhood vaccines for millions of children, leading to worse health outcomes.
