Throughout the month of February, Torkin Manes honours Black History Month.
February highlights our year-round opportunity to learn more about the Canadian Black community’s rich history, the inspiring journeys of some of its members, many of whom achieved greatness in the face of adversity and discrimination, as well as the Black community’s ongoing contributions to the enrichment of our country.
To mark this year’s official Black History Month, the Government of Canada announced the 2026 theme as “30 Years of Black History Month: Honouring Black Brilliance Across Generations — From Nation Builders to Tomorrow’s Visionaries”, which commemorates three decades of Black History Month in Canada and acknowledges the remarkable legacy of Black Canadians, as their leadership, creativity, innovation and resilience have shaped our nation’s history, continue to enrich our present, and will inspire future generations.
As part of our learning and enlightenment, we are shining a spotlight on a web series titled, “28 Moments of Black Canadian History”, created and directed by Anne Moreau, former Torkin Manes summer and articling student.
