WASHINGTON D.C., November 4, 2025 – Proskauer is pleased to welcome Eric S. Johnson as a partner in the Firm’s Corporate Department in Washington, D.C. Eric’s practice focuses on the regulation of cross-border investment and national security matters, advising on transactions reviewed by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) and other national security-focused regulatory regimes, and counseling on related compliance and enforcement matters.
Eric most recently served as Principal Deputy Chief for the Foreign Investment Review Section at the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), where he supervised the DOJ’s work involving CFIUS, telecommunication infrastructure and technology supply chain. He has extensive experience reviewing and advising on acquisitions of U.S. businesses, non-controlling investments involving critical technologies and data, and real estate transactions near sensitive government facilities by or involving non-U.S. investors or businesses. Eric’s experience also encompasses significant exposure and engagement with the government’s national security cross-border investment policy objectives and priorities.
“Eric’s background in CFIUS and national security strengthens our ability to guide clients through a complex global investment landscape,” said Firm Chairman, Tim Mungovan. “Foreign direct investment in the U.S. is an increasingly regulated field. Eric’s arrival reflects our commitment to anticipating market change and ensuring that our clients can execute transactions confidently in this shifting landscape.”
“Eric is a highly respected practitioner with a nuanced understanding of the regulatory dynamics that shape cross-border M&A. His experience in government and private practice will be invaluable to clients structuring deals that require sophisticated risk assessment and regulatory strategy. We are thrilled to have him join our team,” said Daniel Ganitsky, co-head of Proskauer’s Mergers & Acquisitions Group.
“The Proskauer platform brings together the Firm’s expertise across the M&A, private equity, and regulatory sectors to assist clients in addressing the evolving intersection of national security and investment. I’m excited to join this team and contribute to our shared goal of helping clients pursue opportunity while managing regulatory risk in a dynamic global environment,” said Eric.
