Partner Anthony Mirenda has been recognized by the Victim Rights Law Center's (VRLC) with its 2025 Shining Star Award. The annual Shining Star Award recognizes pro bono attorneys for exceptional compassion, dedication and contributions to the VRLC and the sexual assault survivors that it serves.
Mirenda, who co-chairs the firm's White-Collar Crime & Government Investigations practice, has been a dedicated volunteer with VRLC for more than two decades, and has worked to support survivors as part of the firm's pro bono domestic violence project since its founding in 1989. In announcing the award, VRLC stated, "Through his unwavering leadership, guidance, and advocacy, Tony has established himself as a dedicated champion for survivors."
Focusing on privacy rights for survivors, Tony has played a pivotal role in shaping legal arguments through multiple VRLC amicus briefs and representation of individual clients. His work has advanced protections for the confidentiality of survivors' medical, therapy and personal digital records.
He supervises a number of the firm's pro bono matters for VRLC. Foley Hoag has long been dedicated to advancing the rights of survivors and has partnered with the VRLC since 2001 to represent more than 100 survivors of rape and sexual assault. Tony is the ninth Foley Hoag attorney to receive this award, joining previous honorees such as Rebecca Cazabon, Maddy Rodriguez, Steve Bartlett and Jeremy Meisinger.
Mirenda received the award on October 9, 2025, at VRLC's annual Shining Star Celebration in Boston, Massachusetts.
