The MLT Aikins credit unions & co-operativesservices group was proud to support the Canadian Credit Union Association (CCUA) in the preparation and release of its landmark report, Stronger Together, Sooner: A Roadmap for Faster and Fairer Credit Union Merger Reviews.

The CCUA is Canada’s leading voice for the credit union industry, representing 169 credit unions across nine provinces. The report provides critical insight into the state of competition in the industry and calls on the Competition Bureau to reform its review process so as not to impede necessary transactions to help credit unions compete more effectively against banks, fintechs and big tech firms.

MLT Aikins is pleased to house one of the leading credit union practices in Canada, led by partner Peter Drazic in Winnipeg. Leading the effort to prepare this report was partner Josh Krane, who heads the competition law practice for MLT Aikins.

MLT Aikins offers industry-leading experience in credit unions, co-operatives and competition law matters, having acted on several of the largest credit union transactions in Canadian history. The firm advises credit unions and credit union centrals on all manner of legal issues and is at the forefront of developments in this rapidly evolving industry.
