Thompson Coburn partners Kenyen Brown, Errin Martin, Jan Paul Miller, and Tommy Rea were recognized in the 2025 Lawdragon 500 Global Leaders in Crisis Management list. The rankings recognize the “rising convergence in law practice and strategy of increased oversight in a global environment.”

Former United States Attorney Kenyen Brown focuses his practice on white-collar criminal litigation and compliance counseling, including matters involving internal and government investigations. As the first African-American U.S. Attorney for Southern Alabama, Kenyen successfully prosecuted a diverse range of civil and criminal cases. Earlier, as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Mobile, Alabama, he directed investigations and prosecutions involving white-collar crimes and bank fraud. Today, he brings that experience to his work advising organizations and businesses in industries that are common targets of regulatory compliance proceedings and criminal investigations.

Errin focuses her practice on internal investigations, white-collar criminal defense, and data privacy and security. As a former federal prosecutor and national security/cyber section chief, Errin brings a strong background in investigations to her work representing organizations and individuals in litigation and interactions with government agencies. She knows the ins and outs of navigating government investigations, helping clients stay in compliance and defending their interests when facing an inquiry, investigation, or prosecution.

As a business litigator and former U.S. Attorney for the Central District of Illinois, Jan represents corporate and individual clients in a wide range of areas, including disputes involving international licensing agreements, major construction litigation, contract disputes and civil RICO litigation. His extensive experience in white-collar crime cases includes fraud allegations in the health care, government contracts, mortgages, investments, bankruptcy, tax, and banking and regulatory fields. He conducts internal investigations in areas ranging from potential employee misconduct to Sarbanes-Oxley matters.

Tommy is a former Assistant United States Attorney who brings deep trial experience to his white-collar defense and investigations practice. He represents corporate and individual clients in a wide range of disputes and has significant experience in appellate litigation and conducting sensitive investigations. Tommy served for over 17 years as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Eastern District of Missouri, first-chairing numerous trials. During that time, he led investigations and served as the criminal division chief, overseeing thousands of cases, including those related to white-collar crime, public corruption, terrorism, organized crime, firearms, and narcotics.

Kenyen, Errin, Jan, and Tommy – all former federal prosecutors – lead Thompson Coburn’s White Collar Defense & Investigations group. Comprised of former U.S. Attorneys, federal prosecutors, and seasoned white-collar defense attorneys, the team brings unmatched insight into how investigations unfold and how to stay ahead of them. With relationships across enforcement agencies and access to trusted crisis management partners, we help clients navigate scrutiny with efficiency, fairness, and focus.
