Matt Walker's journey at Drew Eckl & Farnham is a powerful example of dedication and steady growth. Starting as a summer associate in 2005, Matt quickly proved himself to be a driven and talented litigator, steadily rising through the ranks to become an equity partner in 2017. His expertise in workers' compensation litigation, combined with his leadership and commitment to client service, have made him an integral part of DEF's success and reputation in the field.

Started at DEF – Summer Associate
Matt Walker's journey with Drew Eckl & Farnham began in the summer of 2005, when he first joined as a summer associate. After impressing the team with his sharp legal mind and dedication, he officially came on board as an associate in August 2006. From day one, Matt dove into the complexities of workers' compensation litigation, mastering depositions, untangling technical medical issues, and building strong client relationships in a fast-paced environment.

Promoted to Non-Equity Partner
Years of consistent hard work and courtroom experience led Matt to his first major milestone—a promotion to non-equity partner in 2014. By then, he had earned a reputation for handling high-stakes cases with precision and calm, advising clients across industries like healthcare, manufacturing, and transportation, and becoming a trusted voice within the firm.

Elevated to Equity Partner
Matt's promotion to equity partner in 2017 marked his full evolution into a firm leader. Beyond managing complex cases, he stepped up as a mentor to junior lawyers and helped shape the strategy that keeps DEF strong in the workers' comp arena.

Making an Impact Beyond the Firm
Matt's influence extends beyond DEF's walls. In 2012, he co-authored an amicus brief submitted to the Georgia Supreme Court on behalf of key industry groups. More recently, in 2024, he was appointed to the prestigious State Board of Workers' Compensation Chairman's Advisory Council, a testament to his standing as a thought leader and his commitment to advancing the practice of workers' compensation law in Georgia.

Matt Walker's career at DEF exemplifies the power of persistence, skill, and a commitment to excellence. From his early days as a summer associate to becoming an equity partner and respected leader, Matt has continually raised the bar—both for himself and the firm. His dedication to his clients, mentorship of colleagues, and active role in shaping workers' compensation law ensure that his impact will be felt for years to come. We're proud to have Matt as a cornerstone of the DEF team.
