PHILADELPHIA (June 9, 2025) – Holland & Knight continues to strengthen its local and national Tax Practice with the addition of Thu Lam as senior counsel in Philadelphia. Ms. Lam represents and advises clients on state and local tax matters involving corporate income, franchise, gross receipts, and sales and use taxes. She was previously senior counsel with Chamberlain Hrdlicka.
Ms. Lam's addition to the tax team follows that of Partner Jennifer Karpchuk, who co-chairs the Firm's State and Local Tax Team, in Philadelphia last month. Tax controversy litigators Peter Hardy and Siana Danch have also joined the office in recent months. As a result, Holland & Knight's Philadelphia office is now home to a number of members of the Firm's nationally renowned Tax Controversy and Litigation Practice.
Ms. Lam serves privately held and large publicly traded businesses across a broad range of industries, including technology, banking, financial services, healthcare, consumer products and insurance. She has significant experience with state tax audits, administrative tax appeals and handling settlement and voluntary disclosure agreements. Ms. Lam also assists clients with state tax planning, including state income and franchise tax nexus review, sales sourcing and apportionment studies, and review of state tax impacts of mergers and acquisitions.

Ms. Lam received a J.D. degree from the City University of New York, an LL.M. degree from Georgetown University Law Center and a B.A. degree from the University of Kansas. She is admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
