The Role of On-site Resources in Accelerating Data Center
Interconnection and Reliability
Data centers are increasingly facing interconnection delays and higher costs as a result of local and even regional transmission constraints. Meanwhile, regulators and grid operators are concerned about the reliability and affordability impacts of rapid load growth.
Please join Mintz's Steve Shparber and Brattle's Andrew Levitt for a discussion on the role on-site resources (like grid-interactive backup generation, load flexibility, or co-location with new primary generation) play in accelerating new large load connections, improving reliability, relieving the resource adequacy crunch, and reducing grid expansion costs. We will also address the latest developments at the FERC, ERCOT (and Texas SB6), PJM, and MISO, and what states can do to unlock value from on-site resources. Finally, we will touch on how developers can prepare now to take advantage of opportunities from on-site resources.
