Cadwalader has added Richard Hanson, a leading UK lawyer in structured finance, securitizations and private credit, as a partner in the firm's London office.

"We're very excited to welcome Rick to our firm," said Cadwalader Managing Partner Pat Quinn. "He offers a unique blend of experience in asset-backed finance, private credit, commercial real estate and other structured transactions that will be highly valuable to our clients."

David Quirolo, Cadwalader's London Co-Managing Partner, added, "Rick is such a natural fit for our firm's platform. His deep knowledge of, and relationships with, private capital providers across a wide array of asset classes aligns with our strategy of expanding our footprint in private capital. In addition, Rick's real estate finance experience will be a great addition to our firm's real estate finance footprint."

Rick, who joins Cadwalader from another global law firm, advises alternative investment funds, asset managers, insurance companies and banks on structured finance, securitization and bespoke financing solutions. Rick has experience with funding structures backed directly and indirectly by commercial real estate (CRE) debt, private credit, distressed/non-performing debt, and other illiquid cash-flow producing asset classes. He advises on all types of private structured credit solutions for asset managers, with experience in CRE back leverage in the form of loan-on-loan, repurchase facilities, repack-to-repo programs, private securitizations, and derivatives-based financings, as well as warehouse lending and the acquisition and financing of loan portfolios using securitization and structured lending techniques. Thomson Reuters has ranked Rick as a standout lawyer for the last two years, while The Legal 500 UK has repeatedly recognized his achievements in securitizations since 2016.

"I'm thrilled to be part of the Cadwalader team," said Rick. "I've had opportunities to interact with the firm's lawyers over the years and have always been impressed with their work and collegiality. I'm looking forward to working closely with them to achieve great results for our clients."

Rick is the latest lateral addition to Cadwalader, which has welcomed over 30 lateral partners since 2021 in areas that are of strategic importance to clients. This has included a trans-Atlantic team focused on private credit and special situations, with Smridhi Gulati, Matthew Smith and Bevis Metcalfe joining the firm in London.
