Walkers is advising GLP Capital Partners Limited as its Cayman Islands legal counsel on the announced sale of its international business and certain of its affiliates, excluding its operations in Greater China (“GCP International”), and existing capital commitments to certain managed funds to Ares Management Corporation in a cash and shares transaction valued at US$3.7 billion.
The transaction will complete following a separation of GCP International from GLP Capital Partners’ remaining business, which will remain independent and headquartered in Singapore with a focus on investing in Greater China. The acquisition is expected to close in the first half of 2025 subject to customary regulatory approvals and other closing conditions.
The Walkers team includes M&A and investment funds partner James Twigg and counsel Michael Kenny, finance partner Shirleen Tan and senior associate Natalie Carter, and regulatory counsel Marco Lam. Walkers is acting alongside GLP Capital Partners' lead counsel, Kirkland & Ellis.
