At Unified Lawyers, we understand that financial pressures not only strain family relationships, they can also make separation more challenging and engaging family lawyers more difficult.

Our mission is to provide family and property legal services that help clients through complex and stressful circumstances. We strive to give straightforward legal support that resolves conflict, reduces stress and reinforces cost efficiency. We also aim to make the legal experience as smooth and stress-free as possible.

For these reasons and more, we have partnered with a specialist family law funding provider, JustFund, to offer eligible family law clients the option to manage their legal fees out of their property split at the end of their matter, mitigating the upfront financial burden of  family lawyers costs.

Are you going through a divorce or de facto separation and concerned about the legal costs? Read on to understand how Unified Lawyers and JustFund can help.

What is JustFund?

JustFund is a dedicated family law finance provider. They provide a flexible line of credit to pay legal bills and disbursements associated with your divorce or separation.

They're mostly a team of former lawyers, including former family lawyers, who are passionate about access to justice and understand just how challenging it can be to balance paying legal fees whilst going through a separation.

How does JustFund help people going through divorce and separation?

Easing the financial burden during divorce:  Facing a separation or divorce can be financially overwhelming. JustFund eases the financial pressures associated with paying legal fees and disbursements, and enables you to make decisions based on the merits of your case rather than your financial resources.

Achieving a fair and equitable outcome:  JustFund plays a pivotal role in leveling the playing field in situations where financial imbalances exist between the parties, such as between the primary income earner and primary caregiver of children. JustFund's support is vital in assisting clients to engage quality family lawyers of their choice, but also securing a fair and equitable settlement for life post-separation.

Accessing quality legal representation:  Without adequate funding, too many individuals are forced to resort to inexperienced lawyers or do-it-yourself legal solutions which are rarely suited to someone's needs. JustFund enables clients to engage Unified Lawyer's experienced team of family law specialists and pay their legal fees at the end of their matter.

How does JustFund differ from a typical personal lender?

JustFund looks beyond your credit score, employment history and income when considering your eligibility. Instead, they assess the individual and the legal merits behind each application, holistically and on a case-by-case basis.

Many of their clients are the primary caregiver or the non-primary income earner in their families.

How does it work?

If eligible, a JustFund line of credit can be used to pay Unified Lawyer's fees as well as disbursements such as expert, barrister, valuation and court fees.

Typically, funds are not paid to you directly but to your law firm. JustFund only pays invoices that are expressly approved by the client.

Who is eligible?

JustFund is currently only able to establish a line of credit for family law separations that involve a division of property. This can include parenting matters if it is connected to or being run alongside a division of property. They are unable to support exclusively parenting matters at this time.

Learn more about JustFund's eligibility criteria and see if you qualify at www.justfund.com.au/eligibility.

When do I repay?

You repay JustFund when your property split is finalised, and you only repay from the proceeds you receive from your property split. Our family lawyers will help you with this process.

Whatever your circumstances, it's crucial to have expert guidance.
