ENSafrica's IP team has been given outstanding recognition by top ranking agencies Managing IP ("MIP") and the IAM Patent 1000. This solidifies our winning streak, following our recent accolade as IP Transactions & Advisory Firm of the Year, as well as IP Head of Department Gaelyn Scott's having been lauded as SA Practitioner of the Year.

MIP's IP Stars is a leading specialist guide to IP law firms and practitioners worldwide. The aspects assessed for the firm rankings include expertise, workload, market reputation, track record, outcomes achieved for clients, and unique strengths in a given practice area.

The following ENSafrica IP practitioners were ranked in the guide:

In addition, our patent abilities have also recently recognised by the IAM Patent 1000 2023, which shines a spotlight on the firms and individuals that are deemed outstanding in the pivotal area of patent law.

The guide ranked the patent team highly, and described the team as having "comprehensive IP capabilities" and attracting "the finest attorneys and IP specialists who can handle the most complex patent cases". Rowan Forster and Dr Joanne van Harmelen were both ranked Highly Recommended in the prosecution category, and Joanne was also ranked Recommended in the Transaction category, along with Waldo Steyn.

Our ranked team members were described as:

  • Dr Joanne van Harmelen: "Joanne is the foremost biotech attorney on the continent. She is unbelievably knowledgeable in her field and works with the utmost speed and professionalism".
  • Rowan Forster: "...has unparalleled experience in providing strategic IP advice for patrons".
  • Waldo Steyn: "...he connects deeply with patrons and provides them with a big-picture and well-rounded approach to negotiating successful commercial outcomes".

We extend our heartfelt thanks to our clients for their feedback, which continues to drive our commitment to excellence in IP services.

"A world-class IP team with a real African footprint, providing business savvy expertise in a cost-effective manner"
