Transport Malta publishes MS Notice 158 relating to Extraordinary measures resulting from the Covid-19 Pandemic

These measures include:

1. Extension of sea service beyond the seafarer employment agreement period for a maximum period of three months, which may extended, to allow shipowners, managers and operators to organise repatriation of crew.  Any extended period would require an addendum to the Seafarer Employment Agreement under the same terms and conditions as the underlying agreement

2. Extension of the validity of seafarer certificates beyond their expiry date

3. Extension of statutory certificates, surveys, audits and inspections

It is to be noted that some of these measures are subject to case by case assessment by the Authorities.
