How would you describe the current anti-corruption enforcement landscape and prevailing trends in your jurisdiction? Are any new developments anticipated in the next 12 months, including any proposed legislative reforms?
United Arab Emirates

Answer ... As stated in question 4.1, the United Arab Emirates is very serious about anti-corruption enforcement, within both the public and private sectors, and as against both companies and individuals. The very real and serious threat of imprisonment and fines is a substantial motivator for individuals and companies alike to refrain from bribery and corruption.

No known developments are anticipated in terms of anti-corruption legislation in the next 12 months. However, the Federal Penal Code was recently amended to further cover bribery and corruption, and new developments are regularly announced in the effort to combat bribery and corruption.
