As a part of the 2018 Budget, the Provincial Government has unveiled a 30-Point Plan for a Fairer Housing Market which include certain initiatives the Government intends to act on to provide assurances for renters in our Province. These plans include:

  1. building rental units for the "missing middle" – more than 14,000 individuals, working families and seniors;
  2. strengthening protections for renters and manufactured home owners; and
  3. encouraging more rentals by providing owners with property tax exemptions or rebates for properties built for the purposes of creating rental housing.

The manner in which the Provincial Government intends to effect these plans is still uncertain at this time. We expect further information to be put forth in the coming months.
