As of Thursday, January 14, 2021 at 12:01 a.m. the Ontario government has issued a Stay-At-Home Order which restricts persons from leaving their home for any reason other than a prescribed "essential purpose".

These include:

  • getting food, beverages or medication
  • going to medical appointments
  • attending, obtaining or providing child care
  • attending school or a post-secondary institution
  • obtaining services from a financial institution or cheque cashing service
  • accessing government services, social services, mental health support services or addiction support services
  • getting exercise or walking pets
  • delivering goods or providing care or other support or assistance to an individual who requires support or assistance or receiving such support or assistance
  • going to work, if work cannot be performed remotely
  • doing anything that is necessary to avoid an imminent risk to the health and safety of an individual
  • exercising an Aboriginal or treaty right

See the Stay-At-Home Order for the full-list of the purposes for which individuals may leave their homes. Businesses must ensure that all employees work from home if they can. Individuals must not travel outside their region or the province unless absolutely necessary. Unless permitted under the Stage 1 Order, gatherings are not permitted.
