As we await the results of the US election, we turn our attention to hopeful First Lady, Melania Trump, who recently demonstrated the importance of consistency when promoting your brand or image. Political enthusiasts had been eagerly awaiting Mrs Trump's return to the podium after she delivered Michelle Obama's her speech on 18 July. Melania decided to use her moment in the spotlight to discuss cyberbullying and its effects on the youth, which is well... rather ironic. The twittersphere could not help but compare her words to her husband's social media actions (see below).

"I come here today to talk about my husband, Donald, and his deep love and respect for this country, and all of its people"

"Our culture has gotten too mean and too rough, especially to children and teenagers"

"We need to teach our youth American values; kindness, honesty, respect, compassion, charity, understanding, cooperation"

"We have to find a better way to talk to each other, to disagree with each other, to respect each other"

So what 'Trump Tip' can we take away?

Be consistent! When you choose to promote your brand – it must be consistent across all of your platforms. Contradicting messages can reflect badly and create a perception of your brand being unaware, confused about its own identity and downright foolish!

It's important that you have a clearly defined vision and that you plan any communication on social media carefully so that the tone and messaging align with your brand.
