The future of the common law in Europe, as well as recent developments regarding the new Cypriot Commercial Court and international arbitration, were amongst the topics addressed during this year's Common Law Conference, which was co-organized by the Cyprus Bar Association and the Bar Council of England and Wales last week in Limassol.
Kriton Dionysiou, associate at our Litigation Department in Nicosia, presented on judicial cooperation in civil and commercial matters following the implementation of the UK-EU Trade and Cooperation Agreement as well as on the available judicial route in recognizing and enforcing British judgments in Cyprus in the post-Brexit era. During his presentation, Kriton further argued that Britain's and Cyprus's common law heritage provides the tools to resolve some of the issues that have arisen when the UK left the EU.
