Happy Earth Week! This week, Washington, D.C. will have quite a few events of note. On Wednesday, Secretary John Kerry will speak at a Center for Global Development event on "Financing Green Development." Then Thursday the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology will hold a hearing titled " Pedal to the Metal: Electric Vehicle Batteries and the Critical Minerals Supply." Also this week, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will host a virtual " National Environmental Justice Advisory Council Meeting."
These events come on the heels of several noteworthy announcements and events last week, including:
- The Department of the Interior's (DOI) announcement that they will resume oil and gas drilling on public lands.
- The Biden administration's announcement of 100 climate commitments valued at $2.7 billion at the Our Ocean Conference.
- DOI publishing final guidance on the new orphaned well program.
