Los Angeles – November 5, 2021 – Cooley advised Within, a Los Angeles-based firm responsible for developing immersive virtual reality fitness app Supernatural, on its agreement to sell to Meta. Partners Anne Lieberman and Dave Young led the Cooley team advising Within.
With the acquisition of Within, Meta looks to broaden its VR and other ambitions into what it calls a "metaverse." Within's existing staff of coaches, choreographers and managers will remain on board after the acquisition, and Supernatural will operate as part of Meta's Reality Labs division.
"We are excited because our partnership with Meta means we will have more resources to expand and bring you even more music, more creative ways to workout, more features and more social experiences for VR," Chris Milk, CEO and head of fitness at Within, said in a blog post.
Founded in 2014 by Chris Milk and Aaron Koblin, Within builds and shares incredible immersive experiences that activate peoples' minds, bodies, imaginations and hearts. The company creates products, original content, formats, proprietary software and tools for virtual and augmented reality entertainment, fitness and learning.
