Beyond COVID-19: A Series on Employment Law Issues in the Post-Pandemic Workplace

Webcast 5: Accommodation Trends and Workplace Diversity

Please note that this program will be delivered in English.

Workplace diversity and inclusion programming is under increased scrutiny, with many Canadian employers looking for innovative ways to achieve diversity and inclusion goals and objectives.  These initiatives, aimed at addressing and preventing discrimination, raise a variety of legal issues. At the same time, Canadian employers are faced with an increasing number of accommodation requests due to COVID-19 and are grappling with how the post-pandemic workplace will impact accommodation practices and diversity and inclusion initiatives.

Join Blakes Employment & Labour lawyers as we discuss the importance of workplace diversity and inclusion, as well as the trends we are seeing with regards to accommodation.

Topics:

  • Legal issues related to the collection of diversity data and the use of diversity data in employment-related decisions
  • Accommodation obligations in addressing requests for permanent remote-work/flexible working arrangements
  • Trends in disability and religious accommodation in the pandemic and beyond
  • Accommodation of gender identity and gender expression in the workplace

Following the presentation, there will be a 15-minute Q&A session.
