Guernsey's reputation as a leading jurisdiction for the administration of real estate structures extends beyond those looking to take advantage of the access to capital provided by the London Stock Exchange as The International Stock Exchange (TISE) is now the listing venue for more than 40% of all UK REITs.

The number of REIT listings on Guernsey-headquartered TISE has steadily increased since 2016 and there have been eight newly listed REITs on TISE so far during 2021.

There are currently approximately 90 UK REITs, with 37 listed on TISE from a range of domiciles and high profile institutional and sophisticated investor groups.

Cees Vermaas, CEO at TISE, said: "We have seen a strong flow of new REIT listings, especially in recent months. It is great to see the breadth of domiciles being used within the legal structuring, as well as the high profile and diverse nature of the institutional and sophisticated investor groups who are backing these REITs."

TISE is seen as an attractive listing venue for REITs because of its  recognised stock exchange status, along with its proportionate requirements and fees as well as the efficient application review process. These factors have combined to make TISE a listing venue of choice for REITs, especially where they are backed by institutional investors.

Starwood Capital Group has been one of the high-profile investors to choose TISE so far during the year. It invests into the distribution and industrial sector, as well as its hotel and London serviced office operating platforms.

Other TISE-listed REITs this year have included investor groups from the UK, Europe, Asia and North America. The Man Group-backed GPM CH REIT Limited has become the first REIT from Guernsey to be listed on the exchange.
