NEW YORK, January 11, 2021 – Proskauer, a leading international law firm, today welcomed new partner Steven Burwell to the Firm's Capital Markets Group, based in New York.

Steve's practice focuses on working with underwriters and issuers on a wide range of equity, debt, PIPEs, and other structured securities.  He has extensive international experience working on cross-border transactions in Asia, Europe and Latin America. In addition to his extensive career in private practice, Steve spent 20 years within the banking sector, including 16 years at Deutsche Bank, where he served as Managing Director and Associate General Counsel, Head of Corporate Finance/ Capital Markets Legal in the Americas.

"Steve has a wealth of experience from his time leading the legal team at Deutsche Bank and is well known across the industry as a seasoned and creative capital markets lawyer," said Stephen Boyko, Co-Chair of the Firm's Corporate Department. 

Steve has a history of working with SPACs, a growing area where the Proskauer team also has a wealth of experience. This past summer, Proskauer released its SPAC IPO Study which analyzed deal terms and trends in the market.

Steve graduated from Amherst College with a B.A. and received his J.D. from Columbia University School of Law.

Proskauer has advised on some of 2020's most challenging corporate matters, including advising Hg Capital on its latest triple fundraising totaling $11 billion, representing Church & Dwight Co., Inc. on its $530 million acquisition of Matrixx Initiatives, Inc., acting for longtime client Accor in taking full ownership of the sbe hotel brand, advising Raymond James and BofA Securities, as joint book-running managers, in connection with the public offering of Casella Waste Systems, and representing Eucrates Biomedical Acquisition Corp., a SPAC, in its $100 million initial public offering.
