Global law firm Clyde & Co has advised the Government of Guyana in a review of the signing of a petroleum agreement for the country's Stabroek Block.

The Stabroek Block, which is 26,800 square kilometres in size, is located approximately 120 miles offshore Guyana.

In September 2019, Clyde & Co was retained by the Government of Guyana to conduct an independent investigation, and prepare a detailed assessment, of the process which led to the signing of the new agreement in June 2016. Subsequently on 30 January 2020 the firm concluded its investigation and submitted an independent report on its findings to the Government.

The Clyde & Co team was led by partners Philip Mace and David Hesse in the firm's London office.

Clyde & Co's energy and natural resources team spans the firm's global network with expertise across oil & gas, mining and natural resources and conventional power and renewables.
