CEE powerhouse Schoenherr will double its presence in Poland by adding a team of 23 lawyers, including seven partners, to its Warsaw office as of February 2024. This significant expansion underlines Schoenherr's ambition to strategically grow and expand its position as the natural firm of choice for Central Eastern Europe, offering high-end capability across and beyond these markets.
Szymon Okoń (capital markets), Paweł Chyb (M&A), Ilona Fedurek (banking & finance), Tomasz Kwaśniewski (capital markets, banking & finance), Katarzyna Solarz (corporate), Katarzyna Szczudlik (IP/TMT) and Marcin Czaprowski (M&A) will join as partners and will further strengthen the firm's capabilities in key legal areas.
"The expansion of the Polish team reflects the rapidly increasing market opportunities and economic developments," says Schoenherr's managing partner Alexander Popp. "We warmly welcome our new colleagues!"
Over the past few years Poland has emerged as an attractive market for international investors due to its fast-growing economy with a GDP of EUR 650bln. Schoenherr's decision to double its footprint in Poland reflects the growing demand and market opportunities.
"Outbound investments from Poland into Central Eastern Europe, led by strategic investors and local private equity houses, will continue to grow" says Paweł Halwa, managing partner of the Warsaw office. "I am extremely proud of what our team has built over the past 15 years, and we all are very much looking forward to starting the next chapter together with our new colleagues."
Szymon Okoń and Paweł Chyb add: "Joining Schoenherr will open up exciting new opportunities. No other firm has an equally strong position across Central and Eastern Europe. We share the same values and ambitions, it is a great fit!"
