The Isle of Man certainly felt like the centre of the bitcoin
universe during the first Crypto Valley Summit held on 17 and 18
September 2014. Entrepreneurs and digital currency specialists from
all over the world descended on the sunny Isle of Man to learn more
about the Island's initiatives to welcome crypto-currency
businesses and become a world leader in this industry. The Island
has already attracted many leading companies in this industry to
set up substantive operations here.
DQ's head of regulatory & compliance services, Sinead
O'Connor, who attended both days of the Summit commented:
"The atmosphere was unique amongst business conferences with
a tangible passion in the air for the crypto-currency sector and
immense pride in the Isle of Man for what it is doing to support
businesses interested in the Island as a location of choice. The
supportive, pro business attitude of the Isle of Man government was
a constant theme among the overseas delegates and senior government
representatives were there in force. Whilst the challenges to the
industry, such as regulation and access to banking services were
openly debated, there was also emphasis on the quality of
professional services and infrastructure that the Island can
provide to cyrpto-currency providers wishing to establish on the
Isle of Man. An interesting development this week was that many
overseas delegates fell in love with the Island during their visit
and were visiting estate agents, such was their passion for setting
up business on, and relocating to, the Isle of Man. We at DQ echo
the comments of one of the industry's leading figures, Brock
Pierce, who rightly described the island as the "crypto-currency
capital of the world."
