According to the announcement issued by the Rwanda Revenue Authority ("RRA") on December 13, 2019, the applications for quitus fiscal in relation to the fiscal year 2020 are open from today (December 16, 2019).

In terms of article 64 of the Rwandan Income Tax Act (Law nº 016/2018 of 13/04/2), taxpayers holding the quitus fiscal are exempted from withholding tax on imports and public tenders at the rate of 5% and 3% respectively.

The application for a quitus fiscal is open for potential bidders to public tenders and importers meeting the applicable requirements and can be effected by completing the prescribed application form and other relevant documents and submitting them to the RRA headquarters or its offices in various districts.
