The Administrative Council for Economic Defence ("CADE") and the Brazilian Patent and Trademark Office ("INPI") signed a Technical Cooperation Agreement ("TCA") before a trial session held on June 13, 2018.

The TCA aims to strengthen the relationship between CADE and INPI by allowing the exchange of technical information, data and documents. The agencies are also committed to organizing events, seminar and joint studies addressing topics related to the interface between antitrust and intellectual property.

The agreement will be in force for 5 (five) years, under the supervision of CADE´s Office of Antitrust Analysis 1 (Coordenação-Geral de Análise Antitruste 1).

This is not the first time that CADE and INPI have entered into a collaboration agreement— in 2010, both institutions and the former Economic Law Secretary ("SDE") signed a cooperation agreement for a period of 5 (five) years.
