ATLANTA—Womble Carlyle attorney Allen O'Rourke will speak at the upcoming Fraud & Breach Prevention Summit, which takes place April 25-26 in Atlanta.

O'Rouke will take part in a panel discussion titled "Deception Technology: When It Works, It Works. But What about When It Goes Wrong?"

New deception techniques offer an increasingly dangerous form of cyberthreats. But they also create new approaches to combatting online attacks. The panel will examine recent attacks from the hacker's perspective and show how deception technology can help detect and defend against attackers. Also, what happens when these techniques don't work as planned? What are the potential consequences? The panel will explore the positives and negatives of deception technology.

O'Rourke will be joined in the discussion by Jimmy Lummis, Associate Director of Cyber Security at the Georgia Institute of Technology; and Chris Pierson, General Counsel and CISO for Viewpost. Tracy Kitten, Events Content Director and Executive Editor, at BankInfoSecurity, will moderate the discussion.

Allen O'Rourke represents clients in cybersecurity preparedness, data breach response and investigation, as well as in defending clients faced with civil litigation, regulatory action, or government investigation related to data breaches and cyber-attacks.  O'Rourke also is an experienced trial and appellate attorney who represents clients in a broad range of civil and criminal matters. Before joining Womble Carlyle, he served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the District of Columbia, where he focused on cybercrime.
