Executive Summary
Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker announced on April 23, 2020, that the Illinois stay-at-home order will be extended to May 30, 2020. The standing order was set to expire as of April 30, 2020 and the new order will take effect as of May 1, 2020.
The new order includes modified restrictions for essential businesses and manufacturing companies in Illinois. Under the new order, Illinois essential businesses and manufacturers will be required to:
- Provide face-coverings to all employees who are not able to maintain six-feet of social distancing; and
- prioritize the well-being of employees and customers, which includes: (i) occupancy limits for essential businesses; and (ii) implementing precautions such as staggering shifts and operating only essential lines for manufacturers.
The new order will also require anyone over two years old and medically able to wear a face-covering or mask when in public indoor spaces like stores, or any other public place where they can't maintain a six-foot social distance.
